As Iron Sharpens Iron

An ongoing and online discussion between: an Orthodox informed Ecumaniac without a denominational home, an ordained Baptist youth pastor with an open mind, a Calvinist worship leader/seminarian with a staggering vocabulary and ability to make a point, and a cradle Catholic with a love/hate relationship to Rome.

Ave reverses Eva

Do you believe we are guilty of the sin of Adam? That is, are we born into this world in sin and need a Savior to wash us of it? I would say, not that sin entered into the world, but that the curse and effects entered into the world. It's not a sense of guilt in a legal sense, but just the reality that we suffer because of the first Man and Woman.

As for sin coming only through Adam, not Eve; that's not exactly what the Church Fathers said. What they said is that sin came through Adam and Eve. Jesus was the second Adam, and Mary was the second Eve.

Taking that sweet Ave which from Gabriel came
Faith confirm within us, changing Eva's name.
