As Iron Sharpens Iron

An ongoing and online discussion between: an Orthodox informed Ecumaniac without a denominational home, an ordained Baptist youth pastor with an open mind, a Calvinist worship leader/seminarian with a staggering vocabulary and ability to make a point, and a cradle Catholic with a love/hate relationship to Rome.

Do you consider yourself "Semi-Pelagian"?

Semi-Pelagianism is a softer form of Pelagianism, which taught that man has the capacity to seek God in and of himself apart from any movement of God’s Word or the Holy Spirit. According to semi-Pelagianism, man doesn’t have a complete capacity, but man and God could cooperate to a certain degree in this salvation effort. In more recent times the word is frequently used by those in the Reformed protestant camp to designate anyone who deviates from the Augustinian/Calvinist/Reformed camp.

Glad to see you guys are writing again, as someone who has made the Protestant to Orthodox and back to Protestant journey, I find this discussion very interesting. At times I can side with both of you! Incidentally, I believe the Orthodox are considered Semi-Pelagians too.

Yes, they are. That's why I was asking. Incidentally, Semi-pelagianism was condemned by the Roman Catholic Council of Orange.
